Echocardiography is an established field in medical science. The field has now a large body of scientific literature, including many peer-reviewed articles and detailed textbooks describing the physics, techniques and clinical applications of the modality. The cardiologist performing the examination will certainly evaluate the condition of the four main heart valves, the heart walls, as well as the chambers of the heart, such as the two ventricles (left and right) and the two atria (also left and right). The examiner will also look for the heartbeat pattern.
