Sooner or later -preferably later- every respectable writer has to do a piece on procrastination. This term is derived from “procrastinare”, “to put off till tomorrow”, i.e. from pro- “forward” and crastinus, “belonging to tomorrow”. Many of us go through life with an array of undone tasks, large and small. Procrastination is a basic human impulse, very often accompanied by serious anxiety, especially in the modern era. It is one of the general weaknesses that prevail to a greater or less degree in every mind. It’s also a surprisingly costly one.
